Summer Starts Here: What You Need to Know for a Successful Season in the Gulf Coast Capital

Summer is almost here—and with it comes a wave of opportunities to create unforgettable visitor experiences across the Gulf Coast Capital. Visit Corpus Christi is gearing up for a packed season of signature events, programming, and resources to support you and your team in delivering exceptional hospitality.

We’re counting down to Buc Days, a beloved tradition that draws families and rodeo fans from all over, while also preparing for the busiest week of the year: the Fourth of July. Separately, we’re welcoming the thrilling return of the Wings Over South Texas Airshow. As we prepare for a bustling season, now is the time to ensure your teams are ready.

Our Destination Training—led by our Director of Visitor Services—is available to empower frontline staff with the tools they need to provide standout customer service. As we all work to curate memorable experiences, remember that loyalty begins with that first meaningful interaction. Let’s work together to turn first-time visitors into lifelong loyalists for Corpus Christi.

Plus, keep an eye out for the Gulf Coasters, back and rolling all summer long—helping visitors make the most of their time in the destination while encouraging and recommending the best of Corpus Christi for them to enjoy and support with their spending. Below, you’ll find our Convention Calendar, details on how to submit your summer programming for marketing inclusion, and the opportunity to review insights from the latest monthly data reports.

Welcoming Buc Days & Rodeo Corpus Christi

Buc Days returns April 25–May 5, bringing a wave of tradition, excitement, and thousands of visitors to Corpus Christi. As one of our biggest annual events, it’s the perfect chance to showcase the destination—and we want every corner of the community involved. Visit Corpus Christi encourages partners to lean into the pirate, rodeo, and parade themes with on-brand activations throughout the two-week celebration.

Ideas include coastal cowgirl hat bars, rodeo-inspired food or drink specials, pirate photo ops, and custom retail displays. Take it further with cross-collaborations—like BBQ classes, western fashion pop-ups, or staycation packages with nearby businesses. These experiences help amplify the Buc Days buzz and deepen visitor engagement.

Promote your activation on social media and submit your event to our website’s Events Calendar to boost visibility. By aligning with Buc Days’ trendy cowboy-meets-coast aesthetic, we can collectively amplify the destination’s energy and create memorable moments that encourage visitors to stay longer and explore more. Let’s make this Buc Days the boldest one yet!

Gulf Coaster Operations: The Gulf Coasters will be actively engaging visitors throughout the full footprint of Buc Days with the Spin & Win Challenge, collecting surveys and creating memorable guest interactions. They’ll be on-site daily from event start time until 8 PM — operating Monday through Friday from 4 PM to 8 PM, and weekends from 12 PM to 8 PM.

Visitor Services: The Gulf Coast Capital Store will be featured in the Treasure Island area and open daily during Buc Days, offering exclusive discount opportunities and a fun photo op for guests. This retail pop-up ensures that visitors have access to Corpus Christi merchandise and helpful visitor information.

Visitor Info Center: The Visitor Info Center at Water Street Market will remain open during regular operating hours (7 days a week from 9 AM to 5 PM) throughout Buc Days, continuing to serve as a hub for traveler information, maps, guides, and recommendations for exploring Corpus Christi beyond the festival footprint.

Ways you can help elevate the visitor experience include:

  • Sending visitors to the storefront for Visitor Guides, Maps, attraction brochures, dining & shopping info, and beach safety details.
  • Have guests call our team at (361) 561-2000 or 1 (800) 766-2322 for personalized recommendations.
  • Stocking up on printed collateral to provide guests with essential information—contact Visitor Services Coordinator, Dalilah Maldonado at dalilah@visitcorpuschristi.com.
  • Encourage visitors to shop Gulf Coast Capital merchandise at the Gulf Coast Capital Store inside the Visitor Center.
